The Coast of Utopia: Voyage
March 14 – April 15
By Tom Stoppard •
Directed by Artistic Director Patrick Dooley

Securing the rights to this epic trilogy was a tremendous coup. Join us and meet the young, passionate, idealistic men and women whose struggle for freedom ignited the Russian revolution and changed the world. The West Coast Premiere of this heart-pounding, poetic masterpiece has only been performed in London, Moscow and New York before now. Don't miss it!

The Great Divide
May 16 – June 17
Directed by Mina Morita • Written By Adam Chanzit • Adapted from Ibsen’s An Enemy of the People • Commissioned by Shotgun Players

In Doctor Katherine Stockmann's hometown a natural gas boom lifts the economy, but she soon discovers several people afflicted with a mysterious illness. One woman’s search for the truth stretches the community to the breaking point. Inspired by Ibsen’s An Enemy of the People, this retelling examines what a person will sacrifice for what they believe is right.

Precious Little
August 18 – September 9
Directed by Marissa Wolf • By Madeleine George

Brody is a woman in charge. She’s a smart linguistic scientist, soon to be single lesbian mother, and she’s proud of her accomplishments. Then things get complicated. The best and worst of human nature collide in this funny and heart-rending new play.

Assassins
September 26 – October 28
Book by John Weidman • Directed by Susannah Martin • Musical Direction by David Möschler •
Music by Stephen Sondheim

Winner of 5 Tony Awards! Politics can make anyone a little angry. Sondheim lays bare the stories of our nine presidential assassins – drawing back the curtain on a group of Americans who took their frustrations too far. Their justifications (set to music!) are just the balm for an election season that is sure to rock the boat.

Woyzeck
November 29 – January 13
Concept by Robert Wilson • Based on the play by Georg Büchner • Directed by Mark Jackson • Musical Direction by David Möschler
Music and Lyrics by Tom Waits & Kathleen Brennan

A musical Shotgun can really sink its teeth into! Dark and demoralized, Woyzeck is a financially destitute soldier who has been traumatized by war. The violence of his experience translates into sinister behavior back home, making for an intense and extraordinary night at the theater. Created by legends Robert Wilson and Tom Waits, Woyzeck is a West Coast Premiere, and we’re proud to have it on our stage.

Directed by M. Graham Smith • Written by Ken Slattery • A Co-Production with Playground

Doomed to repeat the traditional life of an Italian harlequin, Truffaldino shirks his Commedia Dell’arte upbringing and two-steps across the Atlantic to find a strangely parallel world in the States. Genres collide when classic commedia and modern sitcom share the stage in a new work by local star Ken Slattery.
